Recently, I’ve been delving into the world of FinOps, focusing on the application of anomaly detection. My initial interest in FinOps stemmed from a desire to assist customers in gaining better visibility into their infrastructure costs on Elasticsearch. By leveraging anomaly detection, organisations can proactively identify unexpected cost fluctuations,optimise resource utilisation, and mitigate financial risks. For instance, anomaly detection can help pinpoint instances of underutilised or overprovisioned resources, as well as unexpected spikes in usage or costs due to unforeseen events or changes in application behaviour.

The second thing I’ve learned recently is how to do a French plait in my three-year olds hair!
